Confident Cycling Clinics
There are a lot of people that would consider biking to work, the University or for errands but they don't know how or are afraid of getting hit by a car or of having a mechanical problem. Or maybe they talk about reducing their carbon footprint but still drive their car 3 or 4 miles to work every day, a distance easily bicycled in about the same amount of time.
We've designed a special clinic to help people who want to try bicycle commuting get the skills they need. We call it Confident City Cycling. Each clinic has 3 parts and lasts about an hour:
1) Getting ready, what you need, safely sharing the road with motorists
2) League of American Bicyclist video on sharing the road
3) Emergency road repairs
People are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and get some hands on experience.
We're doing 5 clinics so anyone who wants to attend can find a clinic at a convenient time and place:
